A special message from Waleed Al-Ibrahim, Group Chairman of MBC GROUP:
As the region’s leading media group, we believe in the power of telling our own stories; stories pertaining to our region, our culture, and our beautiful heritage. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is home to top-tier talent who has incredibly promising potential. What this talent is missing is a platform in order to help them reach their full potential, as well as offer once-in-a-lifetime work experience opportunities not available anywhere else.
MBC Academy was founded as part of our mission to showcase the region’s potential and create a space for exchanging dialogue and expertise between our region and international entities in the same fields. We believe in investing in our own youth and empowering them with the skills they need to pursue a thriving and promising career in the media sector. This is the first incubator of its kind for Saudi youth to achieve their goals and realise their full potential. Investing in our youth not only enables promising opportunities for themselves; but in turn it also contributes to the economic development of our wonderful Kingdom.
And of course, it provides the opportunity for them to narrate their own stories. Good luck to those applying; we cannot wait to showcase more of our Saudi talent to the rest of the world.
The launching of the MBC Academy was announced in October 2018 to support the productive environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to refine and train young Saudi talents in various sectors of the media and entertainment industry. In June of 2020, the academy announced the opening of its doors to the talented Saudi men and women. The academy is dedicated to discover and develop their skills and to prepare the next generation in the media and entertainment industry.
The goal is to prepare and develop a creative generation to be the best representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the sectors of production, media and entertainment, and thus to promote a prosperous environment and provide an ideal business model that benefits from global best practices. This will be a reality with the long accumulative experience that MBC Group has gained in more than three decades..
Academy’s Action Plan
The academy's action plan has three stages:
- First stage: attract, recruit, and assign Saudi trainees according to their preferences and specialties within the different production departments in MBC.
- Second stage: provide specialized visual training courses in vital sectors that include filmmaking, drama and other pillars of the production and media process, whether on the technical, artistic or content level.
- Third stage: follow-up and mentor Saudi graduates of MBC Academy and harness their abilities and acquired knowledge within the various sectors.
The Academy pays special attention to skills in the fields of film, television, theater, radio, broadcast, digital games, news and press, which are distributed among the following specializations:
Writing, production, directing, photography in all its forms, arts, make-up, hairstyling, wardrobe styling, sound and soundtrack, montage, lighting, content, comedy, music (instruments and composition), TV and radio hosting, news anchoring, DJs, stunts and special effects.
Recruitment of Trainees The Academy recruits Saudi males and females between the ages of 18 - 45 years, who are talented, passionate and knowledgeable of the media and entertainment industry. As well as recruiting and training actors and actresses of different ages.
